Drunk Music Video Final Edit Review
This is an example of the effect I
used when editing my video to change the colour of the clip (left). Also these
are example of the clips before colour correction (bottom left) and after the
colour correction (bottom right).
When editing
my video I had to cut the clips down to the correct size to ensure when I put
all the clips together that I had enough for the full song and they all fit
together perfectly, matching the tempo / beat of the song also. Apart from
cutting clips and using colour correction I didn’t really do anymore editing. I
think cutting the clips and putting them in place was my strength and colour
correction was probably my weakness, but I tried the best I could to get the
colour to look better than it did in my rough edit.
I am happy with the outcome of my final edit. If we got the chance to film this music video again; I think we would take more time to choose the locations we are filming in, to get the best lighting possible, as lighting was a big weakness. Also spend more time filming the shots so we would have a lot of choice on which one would be the best to use.
Produce word processed evaluation that critiques your
individually produced final edit.
This commentary must discuss strengths and weaknesses of your final edit and describe the editing techniques you have used and why you have used those techniques. This evaluation should be
supported with print screened images that relate to what you are describing and
discussing in your evaluation.

Drunk Music Video Final Edit Review
In our music
video I think we have quite a lot of strengths and a few weaknesses. Most of
our strengths are to do with shot composition and editing. I think shot
composition is our best strength, setting up to film our shots was the easiest
part of the production. This is because everyone in the group new what angles
we was needed to position the camera, also how far away we needed the camera to
be to get everything we needed within the frame. I don’t think we had any
trouble with this at all.
Lighting was
a weakness whilst filming; this is because we filmed everything is different
locations (in a house and outside) so the lighting was really different. When
in the house we did use a DLSR light mount to focus on the actors faces but the
colour still wasn’t as good quality and the light outside.
To ensure the lighting didn’t look
too different when putting all the clips together we used colour correction to
get the clips from inside the house to look as good as the clips from outside.
The story
behind our music video is about a break up and how the guy is feeling about it
all, within videos like this there are quite a lot of conventions that we
followed to make our music video. Fast and slow cuts are used between different
shots which reflect the pace of the music for example slow shots with them
walking but fast shots when they’re on the roundabout, which link well. We used
tilts and pans to show the full location, this also helps the story become
clearer. We used clips that tell a story and put them together in a way that
the audience can follow while listening to the song. Also, just like other
narrative music videos we shot clips of our cast singing which will express the
emotion towards the audience. I think we used most conventions professional
music videos would have in them; this was one of our strengths, although we
could have tried to add more conventions and clips to show more emotion and
make the storyline slightly clearer.
I am happy with the outcome of my final edit. If we got the chance to film this music video again; I think we would take more time to choose the locations we are filming in, to get the best lighting possible, as lighting was a big weakness. Also spend more time filming the shots so we would have a lot of choice on which one would be the best to use.

Drunk Music Video Rough Edit Review
Our video is
about a break up between a guy and girl. The video starts off with the guy
thinking about all the great times him and his girlfriend had together and ends
up him being alone. He is quite upset about it and throughout the start of the
video is all of the memories they’ve had, towards the end is him on his own if
their house doing the things they usually do together.
My role was
being the director, to ensure everything was there on time and everything was
going the way we planned. I had to communicate with the cameraman so everybody
was within the frame. Also to get everyone else’s opinion whether where we set
up was good enough and if we needed to get a few shots to ensure we got the
best quality we could.
I think all
of us worked well in our roles. I did try my best to make sure everything went
to plan. Everyone was on time and we got all of the clips we needed, if
anything we got more than we needed. When we got into town we had ideas for
other shots that we didn’t plan and we had enough time to get everything done,
so I think we all decided well. If I could make any improvements I would go
back to the clips we shot at Emma’s and film them again as I don’t think they
are as good quality as the clips we filmed in town. This was because it was our
first time filming any of the shots so we were getting used to doing everything
we needed to do.
There are
quite a few improvements I need to take on board when editing my final music
video. Most of the clips need a few
seconds cutting of the start and / or the end. The ones that need improving the
most are Emma’s lip singing and the passage of time clips. To improve Emma’s
lip syncing I just have to move the clip back about a second or so to get it to
fit with the music. With the passage of time clips I sped up will need to
crossfade to give it the effect of time passing. Also for all the clips I will
need to colour correct them all to look the same because the clips from Emma’s
house are not as good quality as the clips from town. Other than them few
improvements I think the rest of the footage is really good and I’m happy with
most of the clips we have.

Music Video Pre-Production
Task 1
You
must document the production phase of your music video shoot using print
screened music video shots and/or photographs taken during the production
shoot(s). Once the production phase of your music video shoot is complete, you
must upload your video print screens and/or photographs and include annotations
that give the photographs context for the viewer (your tutor). This should
include information relating to your job role within the production and
difficulties faced. Where possible, describe how you successfully dealt with
unexpected production issues.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Using pre-production
documentation produced in your IG2 assignment; you must work as a team to shoot
your music video rushes and record any relevant sound e.g. ambient location
sound. It is expected that you will need to shoot and/or re-shoot additional
footage during this process.
